The holy town of Lourdes is one of the world's centres of pilgrimage and is within easy driving distance of Cazaux Villecomtal. Here, millions of pilgrims gather to pray at the foot of the Massabielle grotto. Open all year round with numerous museums and free entry to the various masses and processions which take place between Easter and the Rosary Festival, it is a place unlike anywhere else on earth.

 

Lourdes also has a market every Saturday.

 

Pau South of France

Pau is a medieval city built in the 12th century and is full of history and culture. Pau has many museums to offer, one being Château de Pau National Museum. Here you will see the grand staircase and fine series of superimposed windows. The museum also houses one of the finest European collections of Flanders and Gobelins tapestries from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

 

Pau has twelve art galleries and exhibition rooms and is one of France's most flower-decked towns, with its ornamental gardens and magnificent parks. Throughout the year here you have opera, theatre, dance, music concerts, exhibitions, all kinds of sports activities and of course during 14 July - 20 August Pau Carnival.

 

In this beautiful town , with over a thousand shops and department stores, you will find everything you want here from designer clothes, jewelery, leather to furniture and interior design. Market day is Saturday at Place de la Republique where all the local producers come to sell their wares.

Bassoues is a small village located in the heart of Gascony, with in 14th century military architecture.
A typical village in character with its medieval fortifications, the dungeon of the fourteenth century, the hall, its basilica, and its collegiate legend of Saint FRIS.

Marciac South of France


Is a  fortified town just a few kilometres from Cazaux Villecomtal. Founded in 1298 by Philippe le Bel, this interesting town hosts the famous summer jazz festival every year in mid August and attracts visitors from all over including some of the greatest jazz players in the world. Marciac offers various monthly various concerts from October to May.

 

The Natural History Museum and the 14th century church in the style of a cathedral is also worth visiting, along with Marciac lake which covers 30 hectares with electric boats, wind surfing, and fishing etc. Marciac also has a market on Wednesday mornings, where you will find a range of regional produce.

Mirande South of France

A pretty "bastide", a fortified town built during the 13th century, Mirande, nestling deep in the green hills of Gascony, has become the very seductive town of the Southern Gers, the perfect destination if you like good living, beautiful countryside, lively places and several hundred years of history.


Mirande proposes to share with all your family, an atmosphere of feast in the middle of Gers, famous for its gastronomy and its friendliness.  


In July, Mirande, in Gascony (South-West of France), transforms itself, over 165,000 people attended the Mirande Country Music Festival, and it is now recognized as the first Country Music festival in Europe.


Mirande has a market every Monday throughout the year.

Toulouse South of France

At the heart of the Midi Pyrenees region, Toulouse  in the South-West of France. With its 2000-year-old history  in an architecture of brick and tiles that is typical of the cities, villages and farms of the Midi-Pyrenees region. Reflections of the golden light on the brick of Toulouse have earned it the name of the ‘Ville Rose.’ This very special colouring confers an atmosphere on the city that is at once gentle and warm.

Standing at an altitude of 2877 metres this truely an exceptional day out. Take the cable car from La Mongie, at the foot of Col du Tourmalet which is open all year round priced around €30 per person. At the summit you are greated with the most breath taking panorama of the Pyrenees, there is also a museum on the astronomy and history of Pic du Midi.
